Meet Collins.
Collins Hansen is a Licensed Professional Counselor with six years of clinical experience and is excited to begin serving individuals and families in the Tuscaloosa community. She earned her Master of Arts in Counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2020. Her training emphasized an integrative approach to counseling that combines evidence-based therapeutic practices with an understanding of the role spirituality can play in mental and emotional well-being.
Throughout her career, Collins has worked across a variety of levels of care, including residential treatment, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. These experiences have equipped her to support clients facing a wide range of mental health concerns. She has a particular passion for working with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, and disordered eating.
Collins takes an individualized, collaborative approach to therapy, recognizing that each person’s story, strengths, and goals are unique. She primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and strengths-based interventions to help clients build resilience, develop practical coping skills, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.
Collins earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Mississippi in 2016. Having been born and raised in the South, she values creating a warm, welcoming, and hospitable environment where clients feel safe, respected, and supported throughout the counseling process.
Outside of the counseling office, Collins enjoys reading, listening to music, and gardening. She and her husband, Samuel, love hosting backyard barbecues and feel most at home when they’re sharing good food, laughter, and meaningful conversations with family and friends.
